Over time I have had the opportunity to connect with various great people on DeviantART and other design social communities, some of which I aim to explore further and connect with on a professional level. Here I showcase the works of NeonFlames, and also got a chance to ask a few quick questions to her about her life and inspirations in photography. Thanks for the interview and taking your time out, please introduce yourself to the design juices community.

No problem. Well I’m Shanice, 15 and trying to be a photographer. Hopefully I’ll get somewhere with my photography

What are currently studying at college/school?

I’m studying the usual stuff at school, but my main subjects are probably art and media.

Do you have any other interests in another design related discipline? graphic design for example?

I like graphics design a lot, although its not something I’m following up but it’ll help with my photography in the future

What piece of work or artist/photographer is your all time favourite?

I don’t think i could pick out a favourite; there’s too many good pieces of work by too many different good artists! Every-one’s art is different so its hard to pick out the best person or piece.

DeviantART is a favorite online community to showcase your work, what makes DeviantART stand out the most for you? + Why did you choose to use DeviantART?

Yes it is. It stands out the most because not only do I get a chance to get critique on my work and a chance of getting noticed, but i also get to find lots of amazing artists that I wouldn’t have found otherwise. I chose DeviantART because its got a friendly environment that also helps you improve your skills.

Do you use any other social networks/design based communities?

I only use DeviantART.

Who have you found to be the most helpful people online in providing feedback and advice with your work?

Lots of people have been helpful really, I get random comments about how to improve which really helps me but also I get some good feedback which boosts my confidence in my work.

What do you think you would be doing if you hadn’t taken up photography?

If I hadn’t taken up photography I would be bored out of my mind and would probably be messing up my education even more than I am now but I don’t necessarily need to have a logical brain to be a form of artist so it’s all good.

Whats a typical week in the life of Neonflames filled with?

Well not much too interesting, just general happiness and not so fun school work.

When you are not photographing or otherwise behind the computer, what do you enjoy doing to step away for a while?

I usually read or go out with mates, hopefully I’ll have a job soon to fill up some of my spare time and earn some well needed money.

What do you believe the future has in store for you?

The future? I have no idea. I believe that things are probably going to get easier, but then again they could get tougher, either way I’m going to keep going and make sure I at least have a future that’s bright
