Once you’ve completed your latest article, how are you going to get people to read it?
There are many ways in which to improve your page views, and I have written several articles on Design Juices;
Increase Page Views With Community News + Social Bookmarking
Here I want to introduce you to some brilliant new community news feeds and design networking sites which allows your articles to be voted up and increase your chances of more page views.
Social Bookmarking Design Sites
These sites are often requiring of more information than your average community feed, but they work to bring more traffic to your site. Articles that are submitted are showcased on the sites and encourage visitors to not only go onto read the articles but to vote on the articles themselves. The most popular site to successfully carry off this method has been Digg, but in design specific sites other great sites which help with traffic include; Design Bump, Design Float, The Web Blend and Zabox.
Community News Feeds
Community news feeds rely on community feeds to help improve there referral traffic, community news feeds vary from site to site. Some people will give there community news pride in place in sidebars, on homepages and in prominent positions. Whereas you can sometimes find it is often hidden away and they would prefer visitors to only check out their own content, and the community news feed is only a ploy to attract visitors to spent time on there site.
Some sites can gain large numbers of visitors if you have a prominent news feed (also has to be a very active news feed with large numbers of articles submitted all the time.) A great example of this is over at Lucas Cobb Design, he has taken inspiration from the way in which Smashing Magazine had chosen to show community news articles prominently on there front page just below the initial content of the main page.
Submit Your Design Articles to Design Juices
Here on Design Juices we have our our community feed page which allows you to input your design news, articles and roundups to drive further traffic to your site. When a submission is posted I will also post the article on twitter personally through the Design Juices Twitter page, you can also submit your links now through the sidebar widget on each page of our site.
