Today on day two of the 12 Days of Christmas #WishList; We bring you an interview and showcase of the works of online t-shirt store Be A Girl Today. We recently got a chance to talk to the woman behind the brand, Mike and I discuss who Be A Girl Today are, what is the uniqueness of the brand? and What their #WishList for Christmas is in 2010.
Hi Paula, It’s great to introduce yourself to the Design Juices readers. Why don’t you tell us how Be a Girl Today came together and what you bring to the world of online t-shirts.
First of all – Happy Holidays to everyone. Be A Girl came into existence about four years ago. We have a line of athletic apparel for women and girls…. Inspiration ready apparel for women and girls!!! We feature riding, soccer, ski, tennis, snowboarding and basketball. The designs are all our designs – we have a designer from right here in the state of Maine – Ken Murphy www.murphyempire.com and he is wonderful.
We are in the process of launching our brand new website. Be A Girl is a family business. Our daughters and nieces provide us with input – they are part of our Board of Directors and range in age from 8 to 26 (Board Girls). My sisters have all helped me with the business. We bring to the world of on-line t-shirts – a cool and edgy product and one that we hope everyone will love as much as we do.
Is social media and social networking a big part of the marketing of bagt? Where can we find you across the social networks?
Social Media and Social Networking – I love Twitter to get the word out and we of course have a Facebook page. I try to blog on a regular basis — and am learning new things every day.
Your company model is much different to many of the other companies featured in this great giveaway, what do you think is your most unique working characteristic which makes you stand out the most?
BAGT’s most unique working characteristic – I think it is that we are so involved in sports, that we support women and girls and sports and we work hard to promote our products. Also, we are really proud of BAGT. Our slogan “Girls Are Athletes, Not Tomboys” always makes me smile.
Will Be A Girl today being doing anything special for Christmas and New years?
What will Be A Girl be doing for Christmas and New Year’s – we will be doing what we always do: skiing and snowboarding at Sugarloaf, right here in Maine. We will be running specials right up until the end of the year – so look for us on Twitter and Facebook and sign up for our e-mails. We try to keep the specials really special.
Complete this sentence: “All I want for Christmas is…”
All I want for Christmas is – a horse. I have always wanted a horse for Christmas and it has yet to arrive.
