Today on day twelve of the 12 Days of Christmas #WishList; We bring you a final interview, we recently got a chance to talk to Greg Wilson. We have been lucky enough to work with Greg to maximize our social media impression with the giveaway. We asked about his photography background and What Greg’s #WishList for Christmas is in 2010.
Hi Greg, It’s great to introduce yourself to the Design Juices readers. Could you please tell us what it is your background in photography and social media is?
With 36 years taking photos this is what Greg Wilson is about; capturing those moments that reflects what is happening in your life and leaves lasting memories. If you can dream it – let’s create it! Passionate, talented, enthusiastic, achievements, devoted, committed, dedicated.
I am a husband and father of 4 children, and have spent many years travelling the world capturing images in some of the worlds most exotic locations. Owner of GWP Studio, one of Australia’s leading Portrait and Fine Art Studios. Over the past 12 months I have developed into one of the leaders of social media with a large presence on all the major platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, along with numerous articles published and podcasts recorded about photography in today’s world of Social media. Today, I am still capturing marvellous images in my studio in Brisbane, Australia, while pursuing my passions for family and Socialmedia and I have a range of new projects being developed with social media in mind.
With over thirty six years experience in the photography industry what would you say has been the biggest change in the industry in your time? What changes do you see happening in the near future? Have all the changes been good for the industry?
After 36 years there has been many changes such as 35mm made more user friendly, then mini labs and now digital if one is going to make a living in photography these days one has to look at more niche markets and specialise in those area. With the changes it call progress and one cannot effort to sit still otherwise you will get let behind. In the future you are going to see allot more people doing DIY photography.
We know you as being big on the social media front, How did you first come to pick up all the skills you have in social media? Is social media something which will eventually die out for businesses? or is it here to stay?
I purely fell into social media and like what I saw and by asking allot of question of the people that had a huge present we started to shape the info that we wanted to share. Social media is here to stay and if you don’t have a drive to get started now and I know their a few people that say its a fad but with +10 Million using it in some form its not a fab!
