Today on day eight of the 12 Days of Christmas #WishList; We bring you an interview and showcase of the works of online t-shirt store Othello Industries. We recently got a chance to talk to the woman behind the brand, Jayne and I discuss who Othello are, their bright attractive designs. and What their #WishList for Christmas is in 2010.
Hi Jayne, It’s great to introduce yourself to the Design Juices readers. Why don’t you tell us how Othello Industries came together and what you bring to the world of online t-shirts.
OI consists of myself, Mike, and Russ. Three friends from the midwest, determined to make a great product. OI brings fresh, clean and unique designs to the online world. We aim to be timeless.
Your line of t-shirts has some great great intricate designs with bright striking colours? Is there an advantage to selling more intricate designs?
Intricate designs can be great, but there is a fine line between intricacy and obnoxious. We try to stay on our side of that line. We like to create designs that make you look twice. Like our Sugar Skull, you really have to focus to see the fine detail.
Are they more appealing to customers? Is the cost higher for manufacturing?
They do not seem to be any more appealing, and the cost is marginal. We have seen a trend that people prefer the simple look.
I also see that you sell your own branded ‘booty shorts’ are there any plans to do any further product lines outside of t-shirts?
We also have hoodies coming out. And we have belts, buttons, and bandannas. We also have a few hand sewn bags made out of old tshirt stock. Huge hit!
What inspired you firstly to start your online store? Was their a brand/artist who inspired your work?
Not really. Russ and I have been at this for a while. It’s just fun, and a great outlet for all three of us to showcase our talents.
Will Othello industries being doing anything special for Christmas and New years?
We have limited edition hoodies coming out, and 3 new shirts. All are gonna blow people’s minds. We are really excited about the coming months!
