Today on day eleven of the 12 Days of Christmas #WishList; We bring you an interview and showcase of the works of Vic from Tat2Ts. We recently got a chance to talk to the man behind the brand, Vic and I discuss who Tat2Ts are ? and What their #WishList for Christmas is in 2010.
Hi Vic, It’s great to introduce yourself to the Design Juices readers. Why don’t you tell us how Tats2Ts came together and what you bring to the world of online retailing.
My name is Vic Weiford and I design tattoo style clothing and gifts. Actually I got into it completely by accident, I followed an ad from I believe the bravenet site to Spreadshirt and Tat2 T’s was born kicking and screaming into the world wide web. I do my designing a bit different than a lot of others, most of my stuff is hand drawn scanned then tweaked on the comp. I really have no formal training in digital art or programming so this part of the experience has been…….interesting to say the least lol. I stick mostly to t shirts and hoodies but recently since Zazzle started carrying speck cases I am starting to carry those as well.
Did you begin your career as a tattooist and worked your way up to designing t-shirts? How did you attain these skills?
I had a very early interest in art constantly drawing as a child. I first took an interest in tattooing around thirteen and let me tell you those were rough beginnings lol. I never really had formal training but I tried to learn as much as I could through watching and reading about all the different techniques and tricks. I wanna throw out quick props to a great tattooist “Bugz Forbes” I learned a lot from him and count him as one of my dearest friends. I had to learn a lot when it came down to T-shirts but I’ve always loved a challenge
Were you heavily artistic in the subjects you took in your education? or Was this a completely different career path for you to take?
I’ve always been very artistic no matter what I trying to do, tattooing, glass engraving, pyrography, digital art or anything else that may catch my attention in the future.
Is there a product you like designing the most? What has been your most successful product?
At the moment I’m really enjoying the Ipad speck cases, lots of area to work with. T-shirts are my best sellers without a doubt but hoodies are a close second.
Will you be doing anything special for Christmas and New years?
Not really just spending time with my family. Holidays and the kids is such a blast!
Complete this sentence: “All i want for Christmas is…”
“All I want for Christmas” is health, happiness and maybe an airbrush lol.
