Fashion Textiles Designer Sian Saxon, shares her work today. A graduate of Southampton Solent University she has since established herself as surface pattern designer.
From my teens I always wanted to work in fashion and as such I studied Art and Textiles foundation course at 6th form moving to Fashion Production (BA Hons) at the Southampton Solent University.
I specialize in children’s wear surface patterns and graphics for newborn through to sub-teen (Girls, boys and unisex). The placement graphics and repeat prints I produce are used for forecasting publications and production runs for clients such as Kite Kids and Proctor and Gamble. I‘ve started to license my artwork now and also have a range of eCards coming out through Jeego.com
The styles I produce vary due to the diverse briefs that come through, but artwork produced can be anything from delicate contempory placements through to whimsical vintage patterns. My artwork gets placed on various mediums from stationary to fashion apparel so it’s always good to be adaptable.
I am influenced by many things like wonderful colour palettes, to various textures and shapes from kids toys. I love to scour the internet for inspiring images –You can visit my Pinterest boards to see the type of things I like. I also post a few bits and bobs on Twitter too @siansaxon although I must get better at using it and engaging more with like minded folk in the industry –feel free to say hi to me!
