Claire Evison is in her final year studying Graphic Design at the University of Cumbria and will soon be in the big wide world after her graduation. Her we share her work and thoughts on life in design, Cumbria and her future.
“I have had a passion for creativity from an early age. Growing up I was never happier than when I had a new set of felt tip pens. I have always loved the freedom that artistic subjects allowed and now I always like to have a creative project on the go, whether it is designing a magazine or arranging music.
I first discovered Graphic Design at A-level. Although I wasn’t entirely sure what it involved, I decided to choose it as a subject because it sounded interesting and I haven’t looked back since. After A level I completed a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at a local college in Grimsby and then started the Graphic Design course at the University of Cumbria. Since I started, I have learnt so much and my enthusiasm for the subject has grown.
I love to use big bold type and colours in my work and am always looking through design books or hunting through websites to find new inspiration and new ideas. I am particularly passionate about editorial and typography work, but I enjoy all aspects of design and love trying out new things. In the future, I hope to find a job at a design agency, allowing me to continue to learn from those around me whilst producing fun and fresh work.”
