Gareth Arrowsmith is a graduate of Liverpool John Moores University from 2010 in Graphic Arts: Illustration, ‘my main intention for much of my work is to try and create a good reaction from the audience that will stimulate them into remembering a past time or even just for fun.’
“My style is often placed in the category of cartoon and takes much of my inspiration from many things such as, the everyday goings on, my own personal likes and dislikes, and general issues that we encounter on a day to day basis.
My artwork is often hand drawn and then coloured on computer to create his flat cartoon like style and is often constructed with bold clean lines and great bounce of colour. The composition and palette which is almost acid house bright is put together in a way that makes sense for the audience to understand as well as combining characters with really busy kaleidoscopic scenes. My work is often described as having an honesty about it, which doesn’t talk down to its audience It was also described as having a “Beano like charm”.
Recently I have been working on illustrations for a number of magazines in the UK also I hope to make a comic or two which I am trying to write at the minute.”
