Freelance Illustrator Kate Bishop of Kroma

“Colour has always been the driving force within my creative practice. I believe that colour is a very important tool within art and design and when certain combinations are united, it can really transform the overall identity and mood of my work.”

‘I tend to focus my work on the simplicity of an object resulting in a mix of love for the handmade as well as the digital as I aim to create something modern and fresh with a hint of nostalgia. My inspiration into the ornament comes from an archive of collected imagery and objects from the 1950’s through to the 70’s, modern day fashion trends as well as growing up by the seaside and Scandinavian design.

Having recently finished studying my Illustration degree at The Arts University Bournemouth, education has given me the confidence, drive and hunger to continue my goal as a Freelance Illustrator, focusing on my brand “Kroma”. I am currently gaining internship experience within design whilst working on my own practice in hope that one day I will run my own creative business.’
