“I am a freelance illustrator who has just graduated from Blackpool and the Fylde College in illustration. I like to think that I am a reportage illustrator as well as a studio-based illustrator. The majority of my illustrations are very quick and put down on paper using pen, and then maybe edited digitally. When drawing from life I like to focus on human behaviour, looking at people’s reactions and their body language, the type of things that just passes by. There’s a lot of humour on the streets today.
I have a new project I am working on called “This is the real”. It’s a project looking at the reality of things such as supermarkets, restaurants, and retail stores. I will be visiting these places that are advertised on TV as a cloudy unreal wonderful place to be in. What I want to get from this is the complete opposite; I want social awkwardness and unenthusiastic attitude from the customers and the workers. This will be a reportage project that hopefully one day can become a published book. I want the reality not what TV adverts say.”
