My name’s David Doran and I am an illustrator currently based in Falmouth, Cornwall. I’m 20 years old and have just started my final year of university. Studying illustration at Falmouth has been amazing; I’ve learnt a lot in a short amount of time and it’s been great to get involved with the different print facilities at University.
‘Falmouth’s a great place to be if the sea inspires you, and I feel blessed to be able to work here. I like to start working early in the morning and go through to around 5, afterwards I like to go skateboarding, cook big meals with friends and have recently been fishing, which is something I’d love to do more of this year (Hopefully we’ll actually start to catch some fish)! Whilst I work I listen to a lot of albums on repeat, recently Elliott Smith, Port O’Brien, and Okay, and time flies by.
I’ve had a busy summer working on a number of different projects, including a few editorials for The New York Times, and a couple of branding projects, one of which is a Soup and Juice bar, called Elixir, on Falmouth high street that includes a lot of hand painted signs and will be going live soon! I’m currently working on some more editorials and a personal project to get third year started.’
