Graphic Design Student Emily Lewis

Emily Lewis is a Graphic Designer currently based in Blackpool, still studying at Blackpool and Fylde College in her final year completing a BA Honours in Graphic Design.

‘The course here at Blackpool is very ideas-based. We are also encouraged to finish our artwork/design solutions to a very high standard. I have also had the opportunity to enter several national competition briefs – currently, I will soon be starting the new D&AD 2014 student awards brief.

Illustration is one of my beloved passions being able to bring drawings to life, whilst advertising is a huge interest of mine looking at the concepts and wit used to promote brands. Translating this into my own works through branding, digital designs, photography and illustrations. Skills-wise I can use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign including Dreamweaver CS6 with confidence.’

‘Whilst my influences include Quentin Blake, Ian Macarthur, Alan Fletcher additionally I gain inspiration from online design blogs and my surroundings to gain more lateral thinking. I am conscious of adapting different briefs in various ways to always keep things fresh and exciting for myself. Incorporating elements of illustration and typography in different briefs, giving me a recognisable style within my work.

I’m currently looking for placements, whilst developing my skills and knowledge in the final year. I’m teaching myself more HTML and CSS whilst developing my digital skills.’
