‘Since a young age, I’ve always been interested in all things design. Animation, in particular, was my first calling. My fascination of moving image encouraged me to pick up a pencil and start creating my own characters and worlds.
I Graduated from Coventry University in 2009 with a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design and Illustration and since then, have been on the rocky road of freelance design. The following years have been good to me though, allowing me to engage in many aspects of design and to learn and develop as a designer. I’m pretty well rounded and have worked on poster designs and branding all the way up to mobile apps and video production but at my core, has always been a strong affinity towards illustration.
I owe a lot to the cartoons I watched, video games I played and illustrators I idolised as a youth for shaping my design philosophy. When creating pieces, I try to evoke a childlike sensibility, and a playfulness which can appeal to people of all ages.’
‘Many of my main influences stem from Japanese culture such as Anime and Manga and my favourite illustrators are from Capcom’s 90’s design team which consisted of Akiman, Kinu Nishimura and Bengus just to name a few.
2013 was a really good year for me and I was fortunate enough to work on some great projects with some top clients. In 2014, the plan is to continue in the same vein but while doing so, put more of a focus on my first love, Illustration.’
‘Currently, I am working on developing and improving my illustration style as I feel the need to get back to my roots and rediscover what being an illustrator means to me. I am also putting together the ground works for a major personal project tentatively titled ‘King Size’.’
