Plymouth University Illustration Student Beth Siddorn

Beth Siddorn is an illustrator in her final year at Plymouth University.

‘Throughout my time at uni I’ve tried loads of different areas including set and costume design, paper engineering, picture book illustration and packaging design. It took a while to really settle on the right style and context for my work, but now I typically aimed at the children’s market. I’ve developed quite a loose, sketchy style of drawing, using a combination of pencil crayon, pastel, watercolour and Photoshop.’

‘This year, a lot of my work has been based around the theme of conservation. One of my recent projects was designing the packaging for a sustainable food company called “Roots” which helped to educate children about endangered species and responsible sourcing. At the moment I’m working on a children’s picture book called “The Thing with No Name” which is a story following a girl called Martha and a strange little creature she finds as they try to find his home, and come across many animals whose homes have been affected by humans.’
