‘Using bold shapes and unique mark making techniques, my designs are contemporary, fresh and vibrant. I love to create designs that are bold, yet delicate, busy, yet fresh and simplistic. I do this by mixing quirky textures – using the sewing machine, with clean, simply drawn lines. I love to create designs with texture and layers, building up a visual story to my work as I go. Colour is also a huge influence and tends to predict which road the design takes me on.
I studied Textile Design at Loughborough University, UK, graduating with a Multi Media Textiles Degree. That was many moons ago, but my love and passion for design, pattern and colour continues to grow and grow! I’ve worked with mixed media for many years, mainly creating art by stitching into paper and grew a successful childrens art business from this – Cheeky Pickle.’
‘However, I’m now totally concentrating on what makes me truly happy: Designing patterns! I’m pretty new to the world of surface pattern designing and am excited by the opportunities that are now opening up to me. I’ve already secured my first licensing deal with Keka cases and am currently in talks with a few US companies regarding new licensing projects.
I’m also in the latter stages of writing a book at the moment, with C&T Publishing Group. It’s a stitching into paper project book for children and is due out in November 2014.’
