Mario Alessiani is a musician and a product designer, after specialising in science in secondary school he decided to study industrial product design. He studied at the European Institute of Design (IED), whilst still a student he worked for Gulio Patrizi.
‘While many designers compare the design process with the art of cooking, I prefer to do it with music. I think that writing music and conceiving the design of an object have a very similar thinking pattern.
I am a IED graduated designer, studying in Rome. That was great, but I wanted to boost my design mind with a different design culture, so I moved in London to work in a studio. It was one of the best experiences of my life, I was working for Jake Phipps and he taught me how to join functionality with beauty.
Once back I finally came to understand what design is for me, it’s something functionally beautiful! Now I have my own studio in my native city, back to Italy, where I work on anything from technology products, lighting & furniture.’
