Manchester Met Uni Photography Student David Pearse

David Pearse is from Birmingham, a BA (Hons) Photography student at Manchester Metropolitan University, he is due to graduate in July.

‘I specialize in portraiture, often consisting of documentary portraiture for my personal projects. Through this documentary portraiture, the focus of my latest personal projects has been on people who often have a skill or craft which defines them. I am drawn to the dedication they have to their passion and the time they spend perfecting their craft.’

‘A big influence on the way I approach my work has been from Canadian photographer Joey L. His professionalism and self taught skills have shown me that if you really want to, with enough effort, you can achieve what you set out to get.

‘The Architects of Change’ was a previous project, focusing on a group of artist around the Manchester area. The project explored the varied types of artists creating work in the area and how, for most of these, the need for constant development of work is essential in bringing in money to keep their business going.’

Patrick Macaulay, Artist

‘My latest project- ‘Honest Decent Human Beings’ is a look at the people trying to preserve the tradition of brass bands. The people photographed are all part of families and friends who have kept the bands going through their commitment and love for the music.
The project is currently ongoing, with some of the work due to be exhibited at the Manchester School of Art in June.’
