Freelance Illustrator Frazer Letman

Frazer Letman is an illustrator and designer who has just completed his degree studies at the Manchester School of Art in Textiles.

‘I am an illustrator and designer, combining intricate hand drawn pencil work with digital manipulation. My work is inspired by social commentary, and the notion of making the ordinary, extraordinary. I have always been greatly inspired by technology and science fiction, and although my work begins as drawings from everyday events, elements of this inspiration always seep in. For me, it is detail that brings things to life- so there has always been an intense focus to obsess over finite detail.

Having just come to the end of a BA(Hons) in Textiles at the Manchester School of Art, my work also incorporates elements of fabric and paper manipulation- allowing for the piece to become more than an image, and become in itself a tangible object. Approaching illustration from this viewpoint has really given me the scope to grow into the type of artist that I felt most comfortable with. The course always allowed for free thinking and gave an amazing creative freedom, which has pushed me in a way that I never anticipated.’
