‘I started drawing at a young age, mainly with pencils or calligraphy ink until I produced my first oil painting whilst at school. It was then that I discovered my passion for oils and they became my favored medium throughout my A-level in Fine Art.
It wasn’t until starting my university degree that I decided to explore the world of digital paintings. My work was becoming more and more influenced by the gaming industry and digital media (relating medium with topic), so much so that I invested in a Wacom Cintiq 22HD so I begin creating my own digital pieces.’
‘The main influences for my work stem from historical symbolism, my own dreams, video games, fantasy art, and a long standing admiration for traditional paintings.
For my main degree project I conducted thorough research of how women are represented in video games, and this helped me to create my own alpha-female characters so I could recreate their costumes. This new found love for costume has inspired me to start a costume based on the PC game League of Legends. I like to experiment with and blend different mediums, and for now I am concentrating on developing my skills with fabric.”
