After studying Theatre, she found her non artist approach an asset to her work. Being supported by many talented illustrators and designers around her, StitchaHandmade began to grow.
‘I like to produce work which draws by stitch. Occasionally I create a few non stitched illustrated pieces. But my main focus is my love of Cornish terraced houses and harbours. Which I free machine embroidered when I became inspired down in Cornwall last year. Now wherever I travel I am very much influenced by the buildings and homes around me to create my pieces.
I am lucky to have my framed originals and greeting card prints featured in Cornish Handmade Shop, ‘Choughed’, as well as Surrey handmade ‘sew potty’ and the gorgeous Hampshire based ‘MakeUk’. I am very much influenced by Poppy Treffy’s effortless stitched lines and Kirsty Elson’s beautiful driftwood houses, which I combine to create what I most enjoy. After taking on varying cushion commissions for Cornish store Choughed, as well as children’s wall art commissions.
Recently, I am looking forward to collaborating with interior designer Heidi Hopkins from Rusticana Interiors. I will be creating a series of detailed, city, harbour and village landscape designs on lampshades to match Rusticana’s beautiful French reclaimed wooden bases. Which will be on sale late this summer 2014.’
