‘I’m really interested in branding and advertising, I like creating the experiences that surrounds a piece of design – that gets people interacting and involved and makes them feel something they didn’t before.
With my university work, I’ve always tried to do something new so I’m learning success and failures of my experimentation. For example on the Safari project I wanted it to be quite illustrative so I could push on with those skills, for Frankenstein I’d never done a photo shoot before. And those skills and then enabled me to pick up new types of work, like large scale wall illustrations across a floor of The Landing at MediaCity.’
‘I take my inspiration from everywhere; I like to get up earlier so I can spend a hour or so looking around the internet scrapbooking things I see I like. And then when I’m working on a brief I really like to immerse myself in it, so I’ll listen to music, watch films and read books that I feel are relevant and for Safari I even got a load of bugs and chef mate of mine round to enjoy a meal worm stir fry – which wasn’t the tastiest.
Since university, I’ve been spending time with different studios in Manchester gaining real experiences whilst I’ve been also finishing off illustrating a children’s book – Colin the Cloud which is being published in September.’
