We first featured Nicky Ovitt back in March of 2013, it’s always great to look back and see how far creatives have grown since first being featured. Surface pattern designer Nicky has now announced her new fabric line; Homestead and signed as a licensed artist for Seattle-based Clothworks Textiles.
‘Homestead is a narrative line that pays tribute to the hard-working pioneer women of an early, hopeful America. A myriad of tools used in a frontier woman’s workday are reflected in the contemporary aesthetic and colors that lend a retro feel to the collection. The coordinating prints evoke the textures of handmade basketry and darning, as well as one design obviously informed by vintage kitchen wallpaper and another that is a collage of iron trivets. There are 6 designs in a total of 17 colors; mint greens, tomato reds, lemon yellow and aqua— all ready for a new project, or one made specifically for the collection. Homestead will ship this Fall and as always, the line is beautifully manufactured on high-quality 100% cotton shirting with a luxurious finish.’
