Papio Press is a small illustration press started by Harry Marshall and Zanna Goldhawk – two third year illustration students from the University of Gloucestershire. We have an ever-expanding range of useful household products such as pocket mirrors and tote bags, all designed with passion and imagination. Papio Press aims to make the everyday a bit more beautiful.
‘Papio really began as a side project for the two of us. We wanted to take our future into our own hands instead of relying on commissions as freelance illustrators once we graduate. We know it can be tough out there! It slowly began to grow, and really excite us, and both of us enjoyed the challenge of adapting our illustration styles to suit different products. We’re so inspired by pretty much everyone we come across on Etsy and Tumblr – it always surprises and amazes us how many incredible artists and illustrators there are out there, and we both have a soft spot for Nobrow especially.
We’ve only recently joined Not On The High Street, and we’re really excited about the collaboration. Our newest project has been the expansion of our iPhone case range, which you can see on both our storefronts now and we’re pretty proud of them! At the moment we’re just starting to work on our final major projects for third year, and running the business alongside Uni work. For our FMP’s Zanna is writing and illustrating a children’s book, while Harry is creating an animation. Though we still can’t help but start doodling a cheeky pattern design for Papio when we have a free half an hour!’
