Art collective Sentio Space launch film backing ongoing CTC campaign to #GetBritainCycling.
“A few of us cycled from John O’Groats to Lands End a couple of years ago, raising money for two organisations called Amantani and FoodCycle. The idea of making an animation, taking the story of the trip and telling it in a creative way, came to us and wouldn’t leave. So we got together a group of illustrators, designers, and animators, and made it happen.”
“We’re now using the film to back the CTC’s ongoing campaign to Get Britain Cycling. One of the campaigns’ key aims is to raise the amount of funding allocated to cycling to 3 percent of the transport budget, bringing it in line with the proportion of trips that are done on the bike. We think this is a fair proposal, which is why we are sharing the film with the #GetBritainCycling, the tag created by CTC for the campaign”
The animation was launched on Friday and received 4000+ views over the weekend, with social media support from Sustrans, Road.cc, BikeRadar, CTC, and the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group.
It’s uplifting, charming and sure to bring a smile to your face.
“The film is made as stop-motion animation, which means taking an individual photo for every frame of footage.”
“It’s incredibly time consuming. We spent a year on the film and took over 8000 photos in total. As you can imagine, patience was tested.”
