‘I have had a passion for art my whole life. I trained in Three Dimensional Design, at Manchester Metropolitan University. It was here that I developed a passion for glass. After graduating I went to London to learn more about the industrial glass industry first hand before moving to my current home in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield. This is where I completed my business training and finally set up Alx Creations. Since setting up I have expanded my knowledge of glass. I love the challenge of working on a wide range of projects and experimenting with new techniques.’

‘The inspiration for most of my work comes from a combination of history and memories. I believe that memories are something we all carry with us. I we can collect a million brilliant memories in our lifetime then we are richer than any amount of money could make us. At Alx Creations I endeavor to hold those memories and the emotions they evoke, in beautiful, handcrafted glass. I work on a large range of both small and large-‐scale glass works. Previous work includes the WW1 Centenary commemorative flame for Tatton Park but also smaller works of art such as my ‘Lost in time’ collection, which consists of transferred photography, frit and paintwork. I also run a number of classes within the community. I have recently run classes for groups such as Age UK and Waves. I also run regular family sessions where children and adults alike can come together to learn new skills.’

‘Currently I am busy working on a large panel to be used as an interpretation board for the Commemorative Flame. For this piece I am using image transfer. I am also expanding upon my ‘Lost in time’ collection and developing work for an exhibition in Macclesfield. Being the Christmas period, I am also out visiting stately homes and craft centers, holding stalls at a number of Christmas craft markets.’
