Vida Iglicar is a graphic designer and illustrator from Slovenia, she moved to UK for studies and graduated in 2014 with a First Class BA Hons degree in Graphic Design & Illustration from De Montfort University and was awarded as best student on the course.
‘I currently work full time in a Slovenian advertising agency and in my free time work on other freelance projects – currently illustrating a children’s book, working on various typographic and illustration artworks.
Whilst at university being away from home hugely influenced me. I often turned to literature, where I found inspiration and motivation in poems with a positive message. In my last year of studies I designed a Silver Lined notebook, a collection of positive hand rendered quotes. It was an experiment of how to join letters into a unique typography and turn it into a motivational artwork. It was when I started to feel my lettering work and style has progressed.’
‘Since I can remember, delicate things caught my attention – from birth to decay in nature, fragile objects, the colour of the sea and sky. All that is portrayed in the delicacy of my illustration and lettering work. It mostly consists of pastel colours. I like to combine the use of watercolours, ink, even coffee. Coffee is definitely part of my day, may it be on paper or in a mug. It is becoming a refreshing mourning routine in a currently busy lifestyle, a moment to stop, reflect and make plans. These days it is paired with doing research on Scandinavian design. Its simplicity is where I often get lost for hours, in search of beautiful works – may it be from interior, fashion or graphic design.’
