Meryl Pardoen is a graduate of Interior Design and Technology from the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design in London. She has since moved her skills into illustration, textiles and surface pattern design, she is now working with a US based print studio as well as her own freelance projects.
‘I specialise in creating print designs for women’s apparel and swimwear as well as home decor and packaging. Stylistically, my work is colourful and bold and I create versatile designs by using a combination of illustration, paints, CAD programs and photography. I achieved a BA (Hons) degree in Interior Design and Technology at Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design in London. After graduating I worked for an interior design studio, however I realised it was not the area of expertise that I wished to pursue further for my creative career. Whilst I worked there I also enrolled onto a Screen Printing course, which fuelled my passion for print design.’
‘As well as looking at current trends, my work is heavily influenced by nature, mainly the tropics, marine life and the underwater world. Summer is my favourite season, which definitely shines through in my work. A few years ago I started Scuba Diving and was absolutely fascinated by some of the colourful and strange looking creatures and textures. These influences are reflected in my designs in both abstract and realistic ways. I also take much of my inspiration from my previous extensive travels and traditional ethnic art, from Moroccan architecture to Indonesian Batik.’
‘After traveling I decided to relocate from London to Spain to focus, fully on my career and next steps, whilst being surrounded by more inspiring nature and sunshine. I’m currently working with a US based print studio as well as doing freelance projects and selling exclusive artworks through my website.’
