‘Since graduating, I have had the opportunity to exhibit my work in a variety of UK design events, starting with entering my current work ‘Geometric Pendants’ in to the Delight in Light competition which allowed me to exhibit at 100% Design among 8 other finalists. This then lead to my work being displayed at the Holloways of Ludlow Lighting Showrooms as part of their 30th Anniversary event where it was clear just how desirable the lighting prototype was and what work is needed to get the product finalised and ready to launch.
The Geometric Pendants were inspired by perspective within architecture, creating a focal point for interiors and portrays beauty, power and strength within the designs. A vast amount of research in to trends, material limitations and complex forms has led to such a unique design – each pendant light is from exactly the same mould but due to its asymmetrical appearance, the work looks different from every angle.’
‘The work has now been short-listed for the New Design Britain Awards Accessories category and will be showcased at May Design Series 17th – 19th May 2015. I strongly believe that having an understanding of business has allowed me to progress this far and create a product that will be launch in to retail for September 2015, provided the Kickstarter Campaign is a success.
The campaign has been launched for 6 weeks to raise funds for finalising the product ready for retail. Investments such as creating a steel mould to dramatically speed up production, and employment of the cold worker and glass blower will be needed to build up stock and redevelop the light fitting mechanism.’
