Lost Sea Stories

‘I really enjoyed my degree, it was strongly focussed on location-drawing in the museums in London and full of inspiring fellow artists. I still have a hankering to go back to art school one day and do a MA in printmaking. Since graduating in 2005 I have worked as a freelance illustrator for publishers in the UK and the USA illustrating book-covers, cookery books and more recently children’s books.’

Birds Eye

‘I come from a small town by the sea at the end of a train-line in west Wales. It’s a beautiful arty place, a bit far from everywhere. There has always been a strong theme of travel in my work. I love illustrated maps and trying to capture the spirit of a place in drawings. I like to sail and am the daughter of a fisher-man so I’m inspired by the sea and it’s stories.’

‘I’ve recently completed a children’s book so I’m catching up on some painting commissions that I’ve got through my Etsy shop. I’m about to do a sailing delivery on a big old boat so I’m looking forward to doing some salty sea drawings when I’m not on watch. My prints and cards will be in a few pop-ups and group shows this summer.’
