University of Cumbria Graphic Designer Eilidh McKenzie

Eilidh McKenzie is a third year Graphic Design student graduating from the University of Cumbria in June.

‘Strong colour concepts and hand drawn type play a big part in my work. I love working with a variety of really bright colours, as I find it challenging yet rewarding when a palette comes together.

I’m really interested in the contrast of handmade and digital elements and enjoy creating work that combines the two and allows me to explore different processes, such as screenprinting or illustration, which I have tried to incorporate into my work more this semester.’

‘Like most creative people I find inspiration in the ordinary everyday, but I am most influenced by patterns and textile design; especially the work of textile designer Celia Birtwell. I love her use of colour and illustritive style.

I am currently working on a screenprinted book all about the world of gardening.’
