‘I am extremely interested in colour, texture and creating original, hand rendered work. I have been a keen painter since a very young age, choosing to study Art and Design throughout school into A-Level and Foundation courses. It was whilst studying my Foundation course that I discovered a strong interest in textiles, particularly within print. My experiences at Norwich University of the Arts over the past three years have allowed me to learn, develop and refine what I am able to do, pushing boundaries within hand printed fabrics.’

‘My degree show collection ‘The Coastal Collection’ showcases the skills and knowledge I now have, going into the industry. The collection is inspired by the vast eroding coastlines around Suffolk and Norfolk, exploring various coastal elements. I have developed a unique way of working using open screens which allows me to work very spontaneously onto fabric. I am able to create a wide range of textural effects using paper stencils, resist methods and various mark making tools. I also use Devore techniques to strip down areas of fabric adding more texture, variety and interest to the beautiful, supple silk I have used. What excites me the most about the process of using open screens is the element of surprise through playing and experimenting and that nothing I do will be the same twice. This means that the fabrics I have created in the collection are all individual and bespoke pieces.’

‘I’m looking forward to gaining industry experience within textile print for fashion but would also love to grab opportunities to work on my own, personal projects in open print rooms to develop further collections and a name. I am excited to see where I can go, what experiences I can gain and to learn from the textile industry, grabbing as many opportunities as possible. This June I shall also be exhibiting at New Designer in London, which I am looking forward to immensely.’
