‘Initially embarking on a Fine Art degree has led to a tendency to use expressive illustration, and a passion for working with more traditional materials like drawing, printmaking and painting.
A raw talent for reportage illustration emerged throughout studying Illustration as the challenges this work brings showcase strengths in observational drawing and mark-making, often focusing on the figure and relationships between people. However, a desire for experimenting and challenging abilities with any brief enables a fresh approach and versatility to drawing and its contemporary uses.’
‘This work is from Katie’s Lido series, which documents a day at the Clifton Lido in Bristol – one of the oldest surviving Lidos in the UK. The series captures the Lidos vintage yet contemporary surroundings, and people enjoying the unique space.’
