Self Taught Illustrator Genaro Martinez

Genaro Martinez is a self taught illustrator from the metropolis of Mexico City. He originally started as his artistic career as a Tattoo Artist over 15 years ago, and since moving to rural England he has turned his attention to illustration.

‘I specialise in drawing still life and nature and I am constantly inspired by things that surround me, for example architecture, wildlife and food. I am always experimenting with different mediums and techniques, like using old toothbrushes and sponges to create splatter effects.

I am still in the early stages of my illustration journey, having done mostly small commissions and sales at a local scale. However I am now starting to branch out and I have lots of ideas for future work, including several pieces inspired by my recent travels and linked to my Mexican culture.’
