‘Since graduating, Jamie joined 49 other selected creatives from around the world to attend the D&AD New Blood Academy after receiving a D&AD Pencil award.’
‘My fascination for typography, particularly hand-rendered lettering naturally emerges within my work and ideas – I believe typography can often be undervalued so I enjoy trying to create work that puts type at the crux.
What influences my ideas rather than the output or style of my work are the everyday objects I see – whether it’s drawn type on the outside sign of a cafe or a particular floor pattern in a public building. My Instagram profile @jamieiainkirk provides me with a platform to capture and collect the everyday things I see into one place to refer back to.’
‘I’ve recently worked on a video of American, professional skateboarder Mike Vallely, illustrating and animating over the video using techniques such as rotoscoping. This week I’ll be revisiting Cleveland College of Art & Design (CCAD) where I studied prior to University to talk to the current students about my experience both pre and post-graduation as well as hearing about their current projects.’
